Background
Garnier's experience before politics was in finance and business. He worked for Charterhouse before leaving in 1981 to embark on a career in the City of London, starting as a junior clerk on the floor of the old Stock Exchange in the UK Government Debt department. [1]
In 2004 he chose to become more active in politics and decided to become a campaigner in his local area of Wrye Forest. [3] He stood for election in the 2005 general election but lost out to Richard Taylor, an independent Member of Parliament for Wrye Forest between 2001 and 2010.
