Lubavitch Junior Boys was a voluntary aided Orthodox Jewish primary school for boys aged 5 to 11 at 135 Clapton Common, in the London Borough of Hackney (URN 138241). The Department for Education records that it opened on 1 July 2012 and closed on 31 March 2018 to become an academy. At closure it had 130 pupils on roll against a capacity of 210, and Mr Robert Leach was headteacher.[1] It replaced the independent Lubavitch House School (Junior Boys) (URN 133617), which opened on 1 March 2002 with Lubavitch UK as proprietor.[2] Its successor, Lubavitch Boys' Primary School (URN 145730), opened on the same site on 1 April 2018 as part of the Lubavitch Multi Academy Trust. The register records 113 pupils on roll against a capacity of 210, and Rabbi Jonathan Kohn as headteacher.[3] The schools are among the Chabad Lubavitch schools in the UK.

Jewish studies

Pikuach inspected Lubavitch Boys' Primary School on 16 and 17 May 2023 and judged it good overall (grade 2). It recorded 108 pupils and named Hadassa Korer as chair and Rabbi Yehuda Leib Kohn as head of school. It reported that the school's Tzivos Hashem programme "increases their understanding and enthusiasm for Mitzvos and Ahavas Yisroel (love of Israel)".[4] An earlier Pikuach report dates from 2014.[5]

Inspections

Ofsted judged Lubavitch Boys' Primary School to require improvement in July 2022. In its report it said the predecessor school, Lubavitch Junior School, had converted on 1 April 2018.[6] In March 2025 Ofsted graded the school good in all areas. It named Hadasa Korer as chair of the trust, Judith Nemeth as chief executive and Jonathan Kohn as headteacher, adding that he is "also known as Yehudah Leib Kohn".[7]
