In May 2024 the Prime Minister Rishi Sunak stated that he would:
- Enhance the Joint Fusion Cell which brings together the National Crime Agency, policing and Home Office operations to identify previously unknown leads, ensuring there is no place to hide for criminal gangs. The new funding will deliver enhanced information at greater scale by combining multiple data sources not previously brought together - meaning we will be able to better identify and expand upon new leads to investigate Organised Immigration Crime.[1]
According to the National Crime Agency:
- The Joint Fusion Cell is a collaborative multi-agency initiative tasked with delivering the single OIC intelligence assessment and driving the SOC system for the United Kingdom through data exploitation and collaboration. Bringing together the skills, tools and knowledge of staff from across HM Government Agencies we consolidate and amplify the UK’s efforts in combatting cross channel Small Boat movements and the wider OIC threat. We work together as one intelligence team sharing a single vision and platforms to allocate and track tasks, produce products and outputs for all partners, irrespective of parent organisations, recognising that all success is shared and delivered through collaboration. JFC staff access, integrate, develop, de-conflict and analyse data from all member organizations’ systems and then disseminate intelligence products as appropriate to any of the partner agencies and beyond.[2]
