- According to his March of the Living UK survivor testimony, he went to school in Schaerbeek, Brussels, then to Milton Junior and Milton High Schools in Bulawayo, Southern Rhodesia. In Israel he later gained a diploma in hotel management from the Tadmor Hotel Training School in Herzliya.[2]

- He describes himself as a Holocaust child survivor. He moved to London in 1973 and worked in property for 21 years. In 1994 he became executive director of the Association of Jewish Ex-Servicemen and Women, leading it for 24 years before retiring as a vice-president in December 2018. He describes himself as a trustee of the Yad Vashem Uk Foundation and a vice-president of Yom HaShoah UK.[2]
