The Institute for Black Solidarity with Israel (IBSI) is a US organisation "dedicated to strengthening the relationship between Israel, the Jewish people, and people of African descent through education and advocacy".[1] It was founded by Dumisani Washington, a former diversity outreach coordinator for Christians United for Israel (CUFI).[2]

Aims and activities

IBSI says it "condemns the 'Zionism is racism' ideology", "defends Israel's right to live in peace with its Arab neighbors" and seeks "a mutually beneficial Israel-Africa alliance".[2] Its activities include:[1]

  • tours to Israel;
  • a young leaders' conference;
  • the Black Christian Leadership Council on Israel Relations;
  • an "Africa-Israel Weekly" newsletter;
  • a video series, "We Are not the Same: How 'Free Palestine' Exploited the Black Community".

Links to Israeli consulates

Leaked files of the Consulate General of Israel in Atlanta were published by Distributed Denial of Secrets; they have not been independently verified. They list a July 2020 webinar, "Let's Rise Up Together from the USA to Israel", on the consulate's digital diplomacy board. It was hosted by the Atlanta Israel Coalition, and its speakers included Joshua Washington of IBSI and a deputy consul general from Miami.[3]
