Ian Cheshire
Sir Ian Cheshire is the lead non-executive to the government.

Career
After graduating from university, Cheshire began working at Boston Consulting. He then moved to Guiness, where he worked his way up to chief executive's Ernest Saunders' executive assistant and American department store Sears.
In 1998 he was appointed strategy director of retail group Kingfisher. He was appointed to the board in 2000 and group chief executive in 2008.[1]
In 2014 it was announced Cheshire would be leaving his role at Kingfisher to be replaced by Veronique Laury.[2]
Politics
Helping British businesses
In June 2013 Cheshire was announced by David Cameron as one of six business leaders on the Business-led taskforce on EU regulation who will identify the European rules and regulations that need abolition or reform to help British Businesses grow. The other five leaders were: Glenn Cooper (president ATG Access), Paul Walsh (chairman Compass Group and former CEO of Diageo), Dale Murray (non-executive director BIS), Marc Bolland (chief executive Marks & Spencers) and Louise Makin (CEO BTG).[3][4] The group reported in September 2013 and reported back one year on in November 2014.
Lead non-executive
In January 2015 it was announced by David Cameron that Cheshire would be replacing Lord Browne as the next Government lead non-executive. Cheshire has previously worked as the lead non-executive of the Department for Work and Pensions.[5]
