Iain McNicoll is a former high ranking officer in the Royal Air Force and the Ministry of Defence.

After retiring from the armed forces in 2010 he holds positions at a number of defence companies, including GMTL.

Career

McNicoll joined the Royal Air Force in 1975, with notable roles including, assistant director of operational capability at the Ministry of Defence in 1996, personal staff officer to the chief of the defence staff in 1997, director of force development in 2000, director-general of joint doctrine and concepts in 2002, air officer commanding no.2 group in 2005 and finally deputy commander-in-chief at Air command in 2007, before retiring in 2010.[1] McNicoll's senior positions were focused on policy and on operations, and when he was main board executive director in his last two tours he was controlling a budget of £2.6 billion.[2]
