Fiorella Kostoris Padoa Schioppa
Fiorella Kostoris Padoa Schioppa (also given as Fiorella Kostoris-Padoa Schioppa) is Professor at the Department of Economics of the University of Rome "La Sapienza" (since 1989) on leave at CIVR since 2003. An Italian economist who is also a professor at the College of Europe in Bruges (2001-2002).[1]
President (1999-2003) of Institute of Economic Studies and Analyses (ISAE), the Italian government-funded economic think tank until March 2003. After a Masters Degree in Science in Economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1968, she became the author of several books including (1993)Italy: The Sheltered Economy. The ISAE reports which offer forecasts on the Italian Economy have the ear of the government, and are presided over by Schioppa.
Other affiliations include the Global Aging Initiative Program by the (CIA-connected) Center For Strategic & International Studies[2].
She is also a member of the Committee of Coordination of Presidents of the Italian Research Bodies (1999-2003); member of the General Council of the Aspen Institute Italy from 1994-2003; she was a Research Fellow in the Public Policy Programme of the (CEPR) Centre for Economic Policy Research in London (since 1989).[3]
She is currently member of the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung “Brussel’s Initiative” (since 1998), member of the (CAE) Conseil d’Analyse Economique (since 1999), member of Eurogroup of 50 (since 1999), member of the Consultative Council of the (CEPS) Centre for European Policy Studies (since 2000), she joined the Consultative Committee of the Centre for European Reform in 2001 and member of the Executive Committee of the (IEA) International Economic Association (since 2002), Committee for Evaluation of Research (CIVR). Since May 2003 she is part of the Technical Secretariat for Research Programming of the Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR).
She was a Visiting Professor at the Fondation Nationale des Sciences Politiques of Paris and at the Department of Economics of Columbia University; Visiting Scholar at the Université Catholique de Louvain Politiques of Paris and at the Department of Economics of Columbia University, Visiting Scholar at MIT, at the Université Catholique de Louvain (CORE) and at the University of Brussels.

- One of the 7 Members of CIVR (Committee for research carried out by all Irish Universities and by Public and Private Research Institutes in all the scientific fields) appointed by the Government in 2003 for the evaluation of the years 2001-2003 and reappointed in 2007 for the evaluation of the years 2004-2006.
- President of Sella Gestioni SGR SPA, with the role of Chairman of the Board of Directors of Saddle Investment Funds (since 2007).

Her former husband Tommaso Padoa-Schioppa, has been called the “intellectual impetus” behind the Euro and the “founding father” of the Euro (he then worked on designing and setting up the new European Central Bank and became one of the first executive board members) and was appointed Economy and Finance Minister in the government of Romano Prodi, and Since October 2007 he has been Chairman of the IMFC (International Monetary and Financial Committee) which is the top policy steering committee of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
