Danish Refugee Council

Location Copenhagen, Denmark

Danish Refugee Council is a contractor to the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) under the Conflict, Stability and Security Fund (CSSF). It is a named supplier on Lot 1 of the CSSF Framework Agreement 2023–27.[1] FCO and FCDO payments to it over £25,000 recorded in published departmental spending data total about £78,973,729; these figures cover all FCO/FCDO (and, after September 2020, former Department for International Development) programmes and are not limited to the CSSF.[2]

Overview

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) describes itself as "a private humanitarian organisation, founded in 1956".[3]

CSSF and other UK government work

In October 2014 DRC announced a two-year partnership with the UK Department for International Development in Syria and Lebanon, under which "£21 million will ensure vital emergency relief operations".[4] DRC's 2023 annual report states that DKK 91.8 million of its income that year "relates to FCDO". The largest FCDO-funded items it lists are the Sahel Regional Fund (DKK 40.4m), the Jordan Protection Programme (DKK 27.7m) and the Humanitarian Enablers Programme (DKK 11.9m). It also lists smaller sums under the FCDO's Humanitarian Emergency Response Operations and Stabilisation (HEROS) project and for Sudan, Tanzania, Ukraine and mixed-migration research.[5]
