Current Medical Directions (CMD) is a 'promotional medical education company that has been in business for nearly 20 years'. It is owned by Sudler & Hennessey a global healthcare communications firm, which is in turn part of the WPP empire. [1]

About

CMD has a long history of working with the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies including AstraZeneca, Boehringer Ingelheim, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Eisai, Elan, Forest, GlaxoSmithKline, Merck, and Pfizer across a wide range of products and concentrating on the following areas: CNS, respiratory, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, infectious diseases, urology, and women’s health. 'The company has developed programming and products at various stages of their lifecycle: from pipeline products to products that are in market expansion phase; to support for aging products that either have new formulations or are entering new arenas; to focus on a target audience that has been underserved and underrecognized; or for those products facing stiff competition from new entries.' CMD is involved in a host of promotional activities including: Speaker Training Meetings; Advisory Boards; Consultant Meetings; Audio Conferences; Dinner/Working Group Meetings; and Investigator Meetings. In terms of strategy, it works on Scientific Platform Development; KOL (key opinion leader) Development/Mapping; Mentorship Programs; Scholars Programs; Slide Kit Development; Reprint Lecture Kits; Website/CD-ROM Development. In Print and Multimedia, it works on Publication Planning and Execution; Educational Slide Kits; Reprint Lecture Kits; Virtual Conferences; Websites; Interactive CD-ROMs; KOL Database Development and Management; Monographs; Journal Supplements; Scientific Poster Exhibitions; Newsletters/Inserts; Handbooks; Interactive Case Studies. In terms of live programs, CMD organises Interactive Workshops; Seminars; Industry-Supported Symposia; amd Mentorship Programs Physician-Patient Partner Programs including Best Practices Case Study Programs.
