Clore Shalom School is a mixed Jewish voluntary aided primary school for pupils aged 4 to 11 in Shenley, Hertfordshire. The Department for Education records it as having a Jewish religious character, a capacity of 186 and 186 pupils on roll. It opened on 1 September 1999, and its headteacher is Gemma Blaker.[1] Its local authority is Hertfordshire County Council.[1]

The school has a parent–teacher association registered as a charity, the Clore Shalom School Parent Teacher Association (charity number 1093129), which reported income of £27,689 and spending of £16,803 in the year to 31 August 2025. Its trustees are Debra Harris, Ilana Epstein and Leanne Jacobs.[2][3]

Governance

The school's website names Sara Levan as chair of the governing board, a foundation governor whose term runs from December 2022 to December 2026. It describes her as Director of Jewish Life and a member of the senior leadership team at JCoSS, who "has taught in the UK, Japan and Israel".[4]

Jewish life and Israel

The school says it works with local Jewish communities "through visits from Rabbis and youth workers", with "the support of our Rabbinic Trustee – Rabbi DY". It adds: "We have been building a relationship with Leo Baeck Education Center in Haifa which has young people coming from Israel to work at Clore Shalom."[5]

Beit Halochem UK

Beit Halochem UK, a British charity that raises money for the Beit Halochem rehabilitation centres for disabled Israeli soldiers and victims of attacks in Israel,[6] lists Clore Shalom School among the schools that took part in a non-uniform day in its aid. The charity's "For Schools" page, as archived in February 2025, thanked the schools listed "for showing solidarity with our soldiers".[7] The page also invites schools to host a veteran who will speak to pupils about "courage and resilience" and "the sacrifices made by our soldiers". By November 2026 the wording had become "our veterans", and the page said such visits had been "particularly meaningful" around Yom Ha'atzmaut and Yom Hazikaron.[8] In November 2026 the school's logo was among those displayed on the charity's schools page.[8]

The chair of Beit Halochem UK is Andrew Wolfson, who according to the charity has been a trustee since April 2016 and chairman since May 2018. The same page says he is also a trustee of The Charles Wolfson Charitable Trust.[9]
