Business Data Israel (BDI) reported in 2006 that the 19 wealthiest families is Israel, between them controlled an aggregate NIS 248 billion in revenue in 2006, 34% of the NIS 722 billion earned by the country’s 500 largest companies altogether.[1]
The Wertheimer family were listed as one of the 18 richest families in Israel by Business Data Israel in 2005. They were replaced by the Elovitch and Azrieli families in the 2006 list following the sale of 80% of Iscar Ltd. to Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (NYSE:BRK-A); and the Alovich and Azrieli families were added.[1]
