British Friends of Or Chadash is an England-and-Wales registered charity (no. 1002594), registered 18 April 1991. Objects: to aid, relieve or assist in the relief of need among Jewish children and in particular Jewish children living in Israel; to advance among such children the Jewish religion, its practices, traditions and culture; and to further their education as the trustees determine. It makes grants to organisations and states that it operates in Israel.[1][2]

What it funds

The Israeli counterpart named in public listings is the Or Chadash Institutions in Jerusalem (or-chadash.com): preschool, primary, high school and a kollel (Beit Midrash “Torat Shimon Michael Sellam”), founded 1995, two campuses, 750+ pupils. The site describes a combined Torah and secular curriculum and a kollel training community rabbis recognised by the Israeli Chief Rabbinate. That is Jerusalem municipal Israel, not a named West Bank settlement.[3]

Rabbi Chesky Vahab’s contact on UK aggregator cards is rabbichesky@ocf.org.il. ZoomInfo lists an Or Chadash Foundation at 10 Yitshak Epstein St, Netanya (Sharon), with Vahab as founder/director — a second Israel vehicle, also inside the Green Line, not a settlement.[1][4]

Occupied territories

No. Commission and TotalGiving both list the area of operation as Israel only. The named schools are Jerusalem (and a Netanya foundation email). No current public beneficiary list places Or Chadash in Dolev, Ariel, Ma'ale Adumim or another settlement. Do not treat this charity as a settlement funder on present filings.

Benjamin Eliezer Perl is separately a trustee of British Friends of Ariel (296269), which funds institutions in the West Bank settlement of Ariel. That is a different charity. Overlap of a trustee is not proof that Friends of Or Chadash itself remits to Ariel.[5]

IDF

No sourced IDF programme was found for British Friends of Or Chadash or for the Jerusalem Or Chadash schools. Leket-style IDF meal-rescue, Friends of the IDF, or settlement-security kits do not appear on this file. Do not write that it “supports the IDF”.

Trustees

Giving is Great (Commission extract) listed three trustees: Rabbi Chesky Vahab (chair); Clive Rayden (also The Rayden Charitable Trust); Eli Shalom Moses (appointed 2023).[1]

Working list supplied for this page also names Benjamin Eliezer Perl MBE. If he has left the Commission card, keep him in “also associated / former” until the live trustee tab is checked.

Perl’s other recorded trusteeships (user list; verify on each Commission card):

Funding

Named donor on the working list: Loftus Charitable Trust (297664), a grant-maker whose objects are Jewish religion, Jewish education and relief of the Jewish poor. Loftus does not itself list “operates in Israel” on its Commission where-it-operates line (England and Wales); a grant to Friends of Or Chadash would be the Israel step.[6]

Giving is Great recorded very small recent years on this charity (examples on that extract: year to 5 April 2022 income about £71k / spend £76k). Pull the Commission financial-history table before publishing a five-year grid.[1]
