Tim Lawrence was a high ranking officer with the Royal Navy and the Ministry of Defence.

He is currently a non-executive director of property and infrastructure business Capita Symonds and a senior advisor to PA Consulting Group.

Career

Lawrence enrolled in the Royal Navy straight after finishing university and went on to have a 37 year career in the armed forces. Having joined as a midshipman, he quickly rose through the ranks to lieutenant commander, before being promoted to a member of the implementation team for the Strategic Defence Review with the Ministry of Defence. In 1986 he was appointed as equerry to Queen Elizabeth, a role usually filled by high ranking military officers who attend to her during public appearances and royal events.[1]

In his later career he worked as a strategist and resource planner at the Ministry of Defence and has been involved in all defence reforms since the 1990s. His final role at the MoD was chief executive of defence estates, where he was tasked with looking after the Department's land and buildings both in UK and overseas. [2]

He retired in from the armed forces in 2010 as a vice admiral.
