Stephan Schmidheiny is a key figure in the business lobby for sustainable development and CSR. Schmidheiny was instrumental in organising the business lobby on sustainable development at the Rio Earth Summit in 1992, where he was Principal Advisor for Business and Industry to the UN Secretary General. He founded the Business Council for Sustainable Development and is now honourary chairman of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development.
