The Scottish Executive's Action Plan on Sustainable Development involved the establishment, in 2002, of a Sustainable Development Forum. The forum aims to "build broad partnerships to work towards a sustainable Scotland. The Forum will bring together the Scottish members of the UK Sustainable Development Commission, business, the trade unions, NDPBs and NGOs". [1]

The forum meet around twice a year and aims to provide a focus for sustainable development in Scotland.
