Peter Bergen (born: 12 December 1962) is a print and television journalist who appears as a terrorism analyst on CNN. He is known for conducting the first television interview with Osama Bin Laden in 1997.

He has written several books on terrorism, including Holy War, Inc. and The Osama bin Laden I Know (ISBN 0-7432-7892-5). Paul Cruickshank was a close collaborator of his on this project.

Peter Bergen was born in Minneapolis and raised in London. In 1984, he received a B.A in Modern History from New College, Oxford. Bergen is Adjunct Professor in South Asia Studies at Johns Hopkins University's School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and a Senior Fellow at the New America Foundation.

In August of 2006, CNN published an article about Bergen's denial of a CIA / Bin Laden connection.[1]
