Paul Clive Deighton, Baron Deighton, KBE (born 18 January 1956) is a British politician who has served as Commercial Secretary to HM Treasury since January 2013.

Deighton previously served as Chief Executive of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG), which was responsible for planning the 2012 Summer Olympics and Paralympics.

He is is a former investment banker who was former chief operating officer at Goldman Sachs Group. [1]

Nuclear negotiator

Working alongside the Permanent Secretary at the Department for Energy and Climate Change, Stephen Lovegrove, Deighton is leading the ongoing negotiations with French nuclear firm EDF to reach a "strike price" agreement for a new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point in Somerset.
