Kate Green is the Labour MP for Stretford and Urmston. [1] She was elected in May 2010 with a majority vote of 8,935.

Alongside her constituency role, Green is the current shadow minister for disabled people. [2]

As a long standing campaigner against poverty and inequality, Green also chairs the all-party parliamentary group on poverty, and serves as a member of the Greater Manchester poverty commission. [3]

Background

Prior to being elected Green was the chief executive of the Child Poverty Action Group, and before that she was the director of the National Council for One Parent Families. [3]
