The Karimia Institute is a Nottingham based organisation that is focused on encouraging and promoting ‘moral, social and spiritual development through worship, education and recreation’, [1]. The Director of the institute is Musharraf Hussain al-Azhari, an advisor to the Quilliam Foundation. The Karimia Institute is party to the preventing violent extremism agenda and is in receipt of prevent funding. From a period of 2009-2011, it has received £100, 000 worth of funding to counter-radicalisation and extremism. [2] [3]

The Karimia Institute hosts ‘two mosques in Nottingham, two Ofsted-registered nurseries, an independent faith school, community centre and community radio station’. [4]
