John Fiennes has been the director of 'energy strategy, networks and markets' at the UK Department of Energy and Climate Change since 2013.[1]
His role is 'to ensure that our energy policy is robust, coherent and effective, with particular focus on creating the conditions to secure new investment in UK energy infrastructure, and on minimising consumer costs (particularly through efficient markets)'. [2]
