Ian McAllister was appointed to the board of Scottish & Newcastle in 1996 as a senior non-executive director and chair of the remuneration committee. After spending most of his career with Ford Motor Company McAllister is an international figure in business terms, after holding various positions in Germany, the USA and the UK. [1]
McAllister is the current chairman of NetWork Rail. S&N like to regard McAllister as adding a further social perspective to the company board through his membership of the Carbon Trust and past chairmanship of the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority and membership of The Advisory Committee on Business and the Environment.[2]
