Background

Ian Liddell-Grainger has been the Conservative Member of Parliament for Bridgwater and Somerset since 2001. He has served on the Select Committees on Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Public Administration, Scottish Affairs and the Environmental Audit Committee.

His constituency includes the Hinkley Point nuclear power station. With the Bristol Channel on his doorstep, he also has extensive knowledge of alternative energy schemes such as wave and wind power.
Liddell-Grainger came to Parliament with a background in business, farming and the Army. He established a UK-wide building and property company; ran a 250-acre arable farm; was a consultant to Army Land Command HQ. He remains a Major on the Reserve List. [1]

25 October-1 November 2008, to China as a member of the All-Party Parliamentary China Group, at the invitation of the Jiangsu Provincial People's Congress to consolidate links between the United Kingdom and China. Transport to and from China was paid for by the All-Party Parliamentary China Group from donations previously registered. All internal costs including accommodation, meals and travel were met by the Jiangsu Provincial People's Congress. (Registered 21 November 2008)
