General Fouad Alam is an Egyptian terrorism and security expert who was previously a powerful member of the Egyptian regime and involved in violent repression of the Muslim brotherhood.

History

Allam is the former deputy head of the Egyptian state security police.[1] Following Anwar el-Sadat's assassination in 1981 he was involved in a campaign of terror against radical Islam which included unlawful arrest, detention without trial, and torture to force confessions. Thousands of suspected terrorists were rounded up and jailed.[2] Ater September 11th he emerged as a terrorism expert and commentator on radical Islam.
