- 1 - Ulster Defence Regiment becomes operational.[1]
- 2 - Colin Wallace promoted to Information Officer at Headquarters Northern Ireland.[2]
June
18 - British General Election won by the Conservatives under Edward Heath.[3]
July
- An MI5 security liaison officer was appointed to Northern Ireland at some point during the month.[4] This was probably David Eastwood.[5]
