Rimon Jewish Primary School is a mixed Jewish free school for pupils aged 5 to 11 in Golders Green, in the London Borough of Barnet. It opened on 1 September 2012 and is part of the Jewish Community Academy Trust (JCAT). The Department for Education records a Jewish religious character, a capacity of 210 and 210 pupils on roll. Its headteacher is Sarah Simmons.[1] In May 2024 Ofsted named Adam Goldstein as JCAT's chief executive and Michael Goldstein as chair of its board.[2] In 2014 Ofsted noted that the proportion of pupils speaking English as an additional language was "much higher than the national average", and that "Most of these pupils are bi- or tri-lingual, and speak Hebrew and English fluently".[3]

Governance

The Jewish Community Academy Trust (JCAT; company number 07643890) runs Hertsmere Jewish Primary School, Rimon Jewish Primary School, Sacks Morasha Jewish Primary School and Wolfson Hillel Primary School. Rimon's website says JCAT is "modern and centrist Orthodox in outlook, under the religious authority of the Chief Rabbi".[4] JCAT's directors as of November 2026:[5]

In the year to 31 August 2025 it had income of £378,388 and spending of £391,180. Israel

The school says it aims "to strengthen the children's connection to their heritage and to Israel", including through "Kodesh and Israel themed Art Days".[8]

The school's report on its 2022 Yom Ha'atzmaut celebrations says:[9]

  • the JNF sent "Israeli flag decorations to put around the school and for each child to take home";
  • the day began with Hatikvah;
  • "Reception learned about Israeli soldiers and the different roles that they have. They also learned about the Kotel";
  • Year 4 took part in the Ohel Sarah "walk to Israel";
  • "Year 6 researched the 4 holy cities of Israel including Yerushalayim, Chevron, Tiveria and Tzfat".

Chevron (Hebron) is in the occupied West Bank. The UN and EU regard East Jerusalem, including the Kotel (Western Wall), as occupied territory. A Year 4 pupil came second in an Ohel Sarah art competition for Yom Ha'atzmaut.[10]

Beit Halochem UK

Beit Halochem UK, a British charity that raises money for the Beit Halochem rehabilitation centres for disabled Israeli soldiers and victims of attacks in Israel,[11] lists Rimon Jewish Primary School among the schools that took part in a non-uniform day in its aid. The charity's "For Schools" page, as archived in February 2025, thanked the schools listed "for showing solidarity with our soldiers".[12] The page also invites schools to host a veteran who will speak to pupils about "courage and resilience" and "the sacrifices made by our soldiers". By November 2026 the wording had become "our veterans", and the page said such visits had been "particularly meaningful" around Yom Ha'atzmaut and Yom Hazikaron.[13] In November 2026 the school's logo was among those displayed on the charity's schools page.[13]

The chair of Beit Halochem UK is Andrew Wolfson, who according to the charity has been a trustee since April 2016 and chairman since May 2018. The same page says he is also a trustee of The Charles Wolfson Charitable Trust.[14]
