In the news

  • In February 2019 the High Court (HHJ Hodge QC) gave judgment in a claim brought by Dr Abdullah Al-Dowaisan and another against Imad Abdul Al-Salam, his brother Husham, Mayfair Developments and Properties Ltd and Paramount Properties Limited (an Isle of Man company). The judge found that Imad owed no personal duty to account to the claimants and dismissed most of the claims. On Imad's counterclaim, however, he found that it would be 'a proportionate response to Imad's conduct in opening and using the NatWest mandate account for the purposes of tax evasion' to refuse him relief to which he would otherwise have been entitled, as a matter of public policy.[8]
