The Counter-Terrorism Science and Technology Centre is a UK government research centre operated by the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) on behalf of the Ministry of Defence (MoD). It coordinates counter-terrorism science and technology activities across government.
History and funding
The Centre was established to bring coherence to MoD's counter-terrorism S&T efforts. Costs for setup and management are met by the MoD, which continues to cover infrastructure and overheads. Research is funded by the MoD, Home Office and Department for Transport.[1]
Purpose
The Centre coordinates MoD's extensive S&T programme for counter-terrorism, providing technical advice across government and acting as a portal for other departments and international partners. It helps avoid duplication, protects national security, and ensures efficient use of resources from industry, academia and government laboratories to meet national CT priorities.[1]
