The Maritime Intelligence Exploitation Group (MIXG) is a Royal Navy intelligence organisation established in October 2016 as an umbrella unit for Royal Navy intelligence elements.[1][2]

It succeeded the Fleet Intelligence Centre (FIC) and incorporated elements of the Maritime Intelligence Support Group (MISG).[1]

The Maritime Intelligence Exploitation Group provides fused maritime intelligence to support the Fleet Commander and sits within Navy Command, distinct from central Defence Intelligence.[2]

History

The Maritime Intelligence Exploitation Group was formed in October 2016 under the Royal Navy’s Information Warfare Programme. Navy News reported: “Goodbye, FIC Hello, MIXG As part of the Royal Navy's ongoing Information Warfare Programme, the Fleet Intelligence Centre has grown and been...” restructured into MIXG, now including all elements of the former Maritime Intelligence Support Group.[1]

By 2025 the Maritime Intelligence Exploitation Group continued as an umbrella organisation for Royal Navy intelligence elements, including the Maritime Intelligence Fusion Centre (MIFC).[2]

Role and structure

The Maritime Intelligence Exploitation Group acts as an umbrella org for RN intelligence elements and reports to the Operational Advantage Centre under Commander Operations, delivering intelligence directly to the Fleet Commander at Northwood.[2]

It includes the Maritime Intelligence Fusion Centre (MIFC) at RAF Wyton as its fusion element.[2]
