Angela Hecht (born June 1951) is a Scottish Jewish community leader and psychotherapist based in Giffnock, Glasgow.[1] She is best known for her long service with Jewish Care Scotland, where she served as a director from 27 August 2007 until 25 August 2015 and later became Honorary Vice-President.[2]
Professionally, Angela Hecht runs Angela Hecht Therapy, offering counselling, psychotherapy, coaching, and mindfulness services in Giffnock, with over 40 years’ experience in mental health, including work at the Priory Hospital in Glasgow and a specialised eating disorders unit.[3] She is a member of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).
Family and relatives
Angela Hecht was married to George Hecht, a company director with whom she shared a long and happy marriage until his death (she is now widowed).[1]
She is related to Walter Hecht, former CEO of Cosgrove Care, a leading Scottish Jewish charity supporting people with additional needs.[4]
She is also related to **Richard Hecht** (Lieutenant Colonel), the Scottish-born IDF international spokesman who grew up near Glasgow and left Scotland in the 1980s to live in Israel.[5]
