Anita Dorothy Berkley is a British Jewish community figure in Glasgow known for her long-term philanthropic involvement in local Jewish institutions and broader Zionist networks.[2] As a member of the prominent Berkley family, she has provided sustained financial and organisational support to several Glasgow-based Jewish charities and synagogues, including contributions to Lubavitch of Scotland and its associated entities such as Shul in the Park.[3]
Anita Berkley, together with her husband Adam Berkley and other family members including Delia Berkley, forms part of what has been described as the "Caledonian Cousinhood"—a tight-knit circle of Scottish Jewish families with significant influence in communal and Zionist advocacy circles.[4] Her philanthropy has supported religious education, synagogue infrastructure, and welfare services in Glasgow's Jewish community, often through donations channelled to Friends of Lubavitch Scotland and related Chabad-Lubavitch initiatives.[5]

- In the course of the thirty years since an apparently penniless Solomon arrived in Edinburgh with a five year old Harry in tow, Harry had managed to buy a property in Morningside and had the means to employ a servant. His profession is given in the census as ‘accountant’ working on his ‘own account’. But it was in the next decade that Harry’s fortunes markedly improved. Signs of the upward mobility of the family were that Harry’s younger sisters married into prominent Zionist families. Amelia (Millie) married Maurice Leon Miller in Edinburgh in 1915. In the same year, the next younger sister Florrie married Lazarus Goldberg in 1915, a member of one of the key Zionist families in Scotland. A contemporary echo of the match that Millie made is that Maurice and Millie had four sons, the youngest of which, Norman, was the father of Anita (born July 1956). In later life (1977) she married into the Berkley family of property developers, right at the centre of the Glasgow Zionist Cousinhood.
