Craig Mackinlay has been the Conservative Party Member of Parliament for South Thanet since May 2015. [1]
MacKinlay was appointed to stand as the Conservative parliamentary candidate for South Thanet following the retirement of Laura Sandys, who had previously held the seat since 2010. [2]
The seat of South Thanet was tightly contested in the 2015 general election but MacKinlay defended the seat for the Conservatives defeating closest competitor and UKIP leader Nigel Farage by a majority of 2,812 votes. [3]
