Lilian Greenwood
Lilian Greenwood is the UK Labour Party MP for Nottingham South. [1] She was elected in May 2010 with a majority vote of 1,772. [2] In the May 2015 general election, Greenwood retained her seat with a majority of 6,936. [3]
Greenwood has been shadow transport minister for the Labour Party since October 2011 when leader Ed Miliband asked her to take on responsibility for the local transport brief. In January 2013 she switched to the shadow rail brief. [4]
Background
Before entering parliament as an MP Greenwood worked as a regional official for the trade union, UNISON. She says her experience has helped her successfully campaign on a 'range of issues such as equality, improving pensions, increasing funding for the health service and workers’ rights,' within her constituency and parliament as an entity. [4]
She was also previously assistant whip for a year in 2010-2011, which involved organising other Labour MPs when the party voted in the House of Commons. [4]
