Hannu Takkula (born 20 November 1963, Ristijärvi) is an MEP (2004- ) from the Finnish Centre Party, and a member of the Steering Committee of European Friends of Israel (EFI).[1][2]

Israel Advocacy

In collaboration with B'nai Brith International, the European Jewish Association, the European Jewish Community Center and the Israel Allies Foundation (of which he is the EU caucus chair) Takklula organises annual celebrations in the European Parliament for Jerusalem Day. The event celebrates the 'reunification' of Jerusalem during the Six Day War of 1967.[3]

In October 2012 Takkula visited Jerusalem as part of the Israel Allies Foundation's annual Chairman's Conference:

With representatives from Europe, Africa, South and North America, the Congressmen discussed the need for continued support for Israel's right to defend it's citizens against Iran - including a preemptive strike if needed - the importance of a united Jerusalem under Israeli sovereignty, and revising international aid to UNRWA.

The event was held in collaboration with the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem and the World Jewish Congress.[4]
