Dick Armey
Dick Armey was a Republican Member of the US House of Representatives from Texas from 1985 to 2003. He was House Majority Leader in the 104th through 107th Congresses.[1]
Armey is described in the London Review of Books as a 'Christian Zionist'. He is reported to have said in September 2002 that ‘My No. 1 priority in foreign policy is to protect Israel.’ [2]
Not in my backyard
Armey is chair of FreedomWorks, 'the well financed (thanks to the Koch Brothers) Tea Party organization that has been been a vocal and avid proponent of fracking'. [3]
In 2014 Armey and his wife were among the lead plaintiffs in a case against fracking taking place near their home in Texas, alongside ExxonMobil's CEO Rex Tillerson.
In an article on the case, business magazine Forbes noted, 'If anyone has a better nominee than Rex Tillerson for this month’s Hypocrite Hall of Fame I’d like to know who it is'.
