Background
Ravi Gurumurthy was Strategy Director at the UK Department of Energy and Climate Change until May 2013. <ref> Paul Bignell, Oliver Wright, Coalition faces an exodus of energy experts as funding for renewables is held up on grounds of cost, The Independent, 11 May 2013
Gurumurthy is viewed as a key architect of the Energy Bill currently going through the UK Parliament, but reportedly stood down from his job in early May. His resignation was followed by two other respected staff, Ben Moxham and Jonathan Brearley. According to the Independent:
- All three men were key proponents of the Government’s strategy of subsidising new offshore and onshore renewable electricity projects to decarbonise Britain’s energy market by 2030.
