Aviva plc is the world’s sixth-largest insurance group and the largest insurance services provider in the UK.[1] It has 54,758 employees worldwide and on Fortune Global 500, they ranked 35 in 2005, 28 in 2006, 50 in 2007, 69 in 2008 and 221 in 2009.[2]

It is UK's third-largest private medical insurer, growing from having 30 employees in 1990 to employing 1,800 staff in 2010.
Health lobbying
Aviva Health employs lobbying and PR form Fleishman-Hillard to lobby for it.[3]
Political relationships
- Lord Colin Sharman, Chairman. Lord Sharman of Redlynch, a Lib Dem peer and former spokesperson for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (8 Jan 2009 to 11 May 2010) has been Chairman of Aviva since January 2006 and a board member since January 2005.[4]
- Sarah Cox, ex-Business Development Manager at Aviva CGNU Group from 2000 to 2001. She has been a director at the Cabinet Office since 2007.[5]
- Mary Francis, independent non-executive director of Aviva. Francis is a former non-executive director of the Bank of England from 2001 to 2007.[6][7]
- Sam White, Group Public Policy Director from November 2010 (announced 9 September 2010). White was a former special adviser to Alistair Darling, then at the Treasury, and also held special adviser roles at the Departments of Trade and Industry and Transport.[8]White has responsibility for global public policy, ‘regulatory agenda and strategy’ across its core markets of the UK and Europe, as well as North America and Asia.[9]
