The Economist
The Economist magazine was founded in 1843 and has been an establishment publication from its inception. It is owned by "The Economist Group" which is in turn half owned by the Financial Times, a subsidiary of Pearson PLC, and half owned by private shareholders. In 2006, the magazine's circulation was 158,000 with more than half sold in the US.[1]

The Economist Group
The Economist group publishes the news magazine The Economist. 50% of the group consists of private independent shareholders, including the Rothschild's. The other 50% is owned by The Financial Times.
According to their website The Economist group "is the leading source of analysis on international business and world affairs. We deliver our information through a range of formats, from newspaper and magazines to conferences and electronic services.
