Maria Grasso
Maria Grasso is associated with the libertarian and anti-environmental LM network.

- Maria was born in Rome, Italy where she attended the American Overseas School of Rome. She read Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) at Lady Margaret Hall, University of Oxford. During her undergraduate studies, Maria was a committee member of The Hive, an Oxford-based student society aimed at expanding the boundaries of intellectual debate. She was an intern with the Institute of Ideas in the summer of 2004, conducting administrative work for the Debating Matters Competition at the Cheltenham Festival of Literature. During the summer of 2005 Maria worked as an ESL teacher at Wen Ling High School in the province of Zhejiang, China. She obtained an MSc in Sociology from Oxford University in 2006. Most recently, Maria was awarded the Diego Gambetta Prize from the Department of Sociology, University of Oxford and the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) ‘1+3’ Studentship Award.
- Maria has been on the Battle of Ideas committee for the past three years. Her articles have appeared in Isis magazine and Spiked. She was also invited to discuss e-democracy and consultation on the 18 Doughty Street programme, Claire Fox News. Maria co-convenes the Institute of Ideas’ Postgraduate Forum at the London School of Economics. The Forum provides an opportunity for students in the arts, humanities and social sciences to present their work in a context that encourages reflection on how the social and political trends shaping the contemporary world interact and cut across disciplinary boundaries.
