John Mclaren
John Mclaren is an ex special adviser to the first, First Minister of Scotland, Donald Dewar. An economist at Glasgow University and member of the Centre for Public Policy for Regions he is aregular commentator on fiscal matters in Scotland. To such an extent he was described in October 2009 as a 'rising star of media punditry' [1].
On behalf of the Centre for Public Policy for Regions, alongside colleagues Richard Harris and, in particular, Jo Armstrong, John Mclaren has written extensively on the current economic situation in Scotland. In doing so John Mclaren has backed his colleague Jo Armstrong in her long standing belief in Scottish Water changing its ownership status.
