Goodwill named as Deputy Director of the Information Threats and Influence Directorate
Rachael Goodwill is an intelligence adjacent career diplomat. She oversaw the covert MI6 campaigns to collapse the government of Bashar al-Assad as head of the Syria External Team between June 2016 and June 2017. She has had appointments in counter terrorism and appointments in Somalia and South Africa. From June 2023 she was Deputy director of the Information Threats and Influence Directorate which is part of the FCDO responsible for propaganda and disinformation in collaboration with British intelligence agencies. In that position from 2023-2025 she was the boss of Andy Pryce formerly of the HMG Russia Unit.
