Jake Berry

Jake Berry is a British politician who has been the Conservative Party MP for Rossendale and Darwen since 2010.[1]
He was appointed a junior minister at the Department for Communities and Local Government on 14 June 2017, with responsibility for the Northern Powerhouse and Local Growth) [2]
Berry previously was parliamentary private secretary to the chief secretary to the Treasury Greg Hands from From May 2015[3] until 2017.
Berry was elected in 2010 with a majority vote of 4,493 and increased that to 5,654 in the May 2015 general election.

As DCLG parliamentary under secretary of state (Minister for the Northern Powerhouse and Local Growth) Berry is responsible for:
- The Northern Powerhouse
- Mayors and devolution
- Local growth – policy and initiatives (eg enterprise zones, high streets, coastal communities)
- Place-based initiatives (eg Thames Estuary Growth Commission)
- Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) policy
- Inward investment and infrastructure (including High Speed 2)
- European Regional Development Fund, and UK Shared Prosperity Fund
- Resilience and Emergencies
- Community rights (including pubs)
- Minister for Secondary Legislation
