Controversies and conflicts

  • Knightland Foundation inquiry: The First-tier Tribunal's decision of 6 October 2021 names Samuel Lew as a trustee of The Knightland Foundation (appointed 31 March 2017).[5] The report defines "the former trustees" as the four trustees in post when the inquiry opened on 24 February 2021, plus a fifth trustee in post from 15 April 2011 to 21 December 2017. The Charity Commission's inquiry report (15 November 2024) concluded that there had been "serious mismanagement in the administration of the charity by the former trustees over an extended period of time", including failures to identify and manage conflicts of interest and to keep adequate records. It found no misapplication of funds and no ultimate loss to the charity.[6] On 26 April 2023 the Commission recorded the resignation of trustees B, C and D, the same day five independent trustees were appointed.[6] Companies House records his resignation on 26 April 2023.
