Chasdei Dov Trust is an unincorporated charitable trust registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales as charity number 1181900 on 6 February 2019.[1] It is a grant-maker advancing the Orthodox Jewish faith and religious education, “in particular but not exclusively by supporting the charitable activities of the institute.” It was one of the first ten charities entered into the Commission’s statutory class inquiry on 14 May 2025 after HM Revenue and Customs found that 105 charities had cashed cheques worth £22 million at a company in Hackney between December 2021 and March 2023.[2]
It is not the same charity as Chasdei Dovid (1154626), a smaller grant-maker that lists Israel among its areas of operation.
Objects and activities

Register activity text: (1) the advancement of the Orthodox Jewish faith and Orthodox Jewish religious education in particular but not exclusively by supporting the charitable activities of the institute; (2) the advancement of such other purposes as are charitable according to English law.[3] The full-print objects also include advancing the Jewish religion through prayer meetings, lectures and public celebration of festivals.[1] The “institute” is not named on the register summary.

Alleged or apparent misdeed
On 14 May 2025 the Commission opened a statutory class inquiry under section 46 of the Charities Act 2011. Chasdei Dov Trust was one of the first ten charities entered, prioritised by number and value of cheques cashed at the Hackney company identified by HMRC. The Commission issued an immediate order temporarily stopping charities under inquiry from issuing cheques without its prior consent.[2]
A class inquiry is not a finding of guilt. As of 9 September 2026 four other charities in later tranches had been closed out of the inquiry; this charity was not among them. The live register still shows a regulatory alert that an inquiry is open.[5]
Separately, the 2021 accounts were qualified and the 2023 filing was 243 days late.[4]
Relations to Jewish communal organisations, Israel lobby groups, and Israel and the occupied territories
The trust’s objects point to an unnamed “institute” and to Orthodox Jewish education and religion. Trustee Yona Arberman is also a trustee of Keren Yeshaye (1195834), a grant-maker for Orthodox Jewish need (weddings, illness, bereavement), alongside Moshe Hersh Kahan, who holds several other Stamford Hill / Vizhnitz-linked trusteeships.[6]
The register lists operations throughout England, not Israel or the occupied territories.[1] No published inquiry statement retrieved for this profile records a grant to the Israeli government, to a named UK Israel-lobby organisation, or to a named organisation in Israel or the occupied territories. Do not conflate with Chasdei Dovid (1154626), which does list Israel as an area of operation.
