Sarah Hogg
Sarah Elizabeth Mary Hogg, Viscountess Hailsham and Baroness Hogg (born 14 May 1946) is an English economist and a journalist. She became a peer in the House of Lords on 3 February 1995.
Baroness Hogg is a Senior Independent Director at HM Treasury, Chairman of Tendering Advisory Committee on LIBOR and a member of The Takeover Panel]] and CMi mentoring network [1]
She is also chairman of the Financial Reporting Council, a senior independent director of oil and gas explorer BG Group plc and a non-executive director of UK retailer John Lewis Partnership. [1]

Background
Born Sarah Boyd-Carpenter, she is the daughter of the former Chief Secretary of the Treasury and Paymaster-General Lord Boyd-Carpenter and the sister of Thomas Boyd-Carpenter, sometime Lieutenant General in the British Army and corporate communication adviser. She attended the foremost Roman Catholic convent school in England, St. Mary's, South Ascot. Following her schooling there, she was educated at Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford.
Through her 1968 marriage to Douglas Hogg, she is Viscountess Hailsham. However, following the granting of a life peerage, she sits in the House of Lords as Baroness Hogg, of Kettlethorpe in the County of Lincolnshire.
Journalist
Hogg began her career with The Economist in 1967, becoming economics editor in 1976. During the 1980s her responsibility for economics coverage continued at The Sunday Times, Channel 4 News, The Times, The Independent and the Daily and Sunday Telegraphs. She was an early presenter of Channel 4 News.
Government adviser
In 1990 Sarah was appointed head of the Prime Minister's Policy Unit and became John Major's closest adviser on the Uruguay round of trade negotiations and the creation of the World Trade Organisation.
Corporate roles
Past roles have included former Deputy Governor of the BBC, Chairman of 3i Group and board memberships of various companies including P&O, P&O Princess and Banco Santander.
