HBOS Foundation
The HBOS Foundation was set up by Halifax Bank of Scotland with the aim of offering charities and communities the facilities to help themselves.
The purpose of the Foundation is to support and work with charitable and not-for-profit organisations across the UK, which support people and their local communities. HBOS have set aside £20 million to be spent over the next five years for community giving under two guiding themes: money advice/ financial literacy and developing/improving communities [1]
The Foundation sits within Group Community Relations at HBOS, under HBOS Group Communications which is led by Shane O'Riordain, Head of Group Communications. O'Riordain has overall responsibility for corporate responsibility at HBOS, reporting directly to Andy Hornby, C.E.O HBOS Group. Angela Tinker has day to day responsibility for Group Community Relations.
The board of Trustees of the Foundation is led by the chairman, Phil Hodkinson, Group Finance Director. The majority of the Trustees are employees of HBOS, but at least one post is always filled by external appointment, which is publicly advertised. The Chairman and Trustees are appointed for a period of 3 years [2].
