David Meidan is a former head of the Mossad liaison branch, known as Tevel.[1] Gil Meidan served as a case officer for Mossad's Tsomet agent-running branch. He served in several overseas stations where he had differences with colleagues, but came through because of his friendship with the head of Tsomet, Mossad Officer N.[1]

He was appointed head of Tevel in 2007.[1]

In April 2011, Meidan was appointed as the Israeli mediator in negotiations to free captured soldier Galid Shalit. This appointment was unusual in that his name became public while he was still a Mossad officer. The role was seen by some as compensation for his failure to win the post of deputy director of the Mossad.[1]
