- Master's degree in ancient history on women in Homeric poetry (1969, grade: très bien); higher degree (DES) in history of religions (1969, grade: très bien); secondary teacher's qualifying certificate in history and geography (1970); competition for secondary school headship (1988); competition for regional education authority inspectors (1997); Inspector-General, National Education and Research Administration (2001).
- Teacher of history and geography for almost 15 years in schools in the department of Vienne (Collège Descartes in Châtellerault, Lycée Aliénor d'Aquitaine in Poitiers); special adviser for college renovation, then on cultural activities (appointed by the Office of the Rector of the Poitiers education authority in 1984); Deputy Director of the Regional Centre for Educational Documentation for three years; founder of the branch of the National Centre for Distance Learning (CNED) at the Parc du Futuroscope, where she was head and director of the CNED (1988); Director-General of the CNED (1988); lecturer responsible for the national training of regional education authority inspectors and head teachers at the College for National Education (1988); Inspector-General in the National Education and Research Administration for the South-Eastern France Group - the regional education authorities of Lyons, Grenoble, Aix-Marseilles, Nice and Corsica (2001).
- Member of the policy bureau of the Union pour un Mouvement Populaire (UMP) (since 2003); Member of the Poitiers Municipal Council (2001-2007); Chairwoman of the Poitou-Charentes Regional Council - elected 1998 - (2002-2004); special adviser in the office of the Minister for school education, working in the field of young people's health (2002-2004).
