John Grogan has been a Labour MP since 1997, the first ever Labour candidate to represent the Selby constituency. Grogan is the leader of the All-Party Parliamentary Beer Group the largest all party group in Westminster. He has also been a member the Northern Ireland Affairs Committee since July 2004. He also is a paid columnist for the Alcohol Industry trade publication The Morning Advertiser. According to parlimentary register of members interests Grogan makes several overseas trips each year his 2007 entry included:
