Orchard Advert Ltd is a private limited company incorporated on 6 April 1994 to conduct commercial trading activities that support the operations and charitable objectives of Lubavitch of Scotland, the Scottish branch of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement.[1] Registered at 8 Orchard Drive, Giffnock, Glasgow, the company generates revenue through kosher food retail, restaurant operations (notably L'Chaim's), and related catering services, with proceeds directed toward funding religious education, synagogue maintenance, youth programmes, and community welfare initiatives.[2] It remains active and serves as the principal trading arm of Lubavitch of Scotland, operating independently of any promotion of the Zionist entity or settler colony agendas.[1]
The company name "Orchard Advert Ltd" reflects its registered address on Orchard Drive and has been used consistently since incorporation to manage commercial income streams for the organisation's non-charitable activities.[3] It plays a key role in sustaining kosher infrastructure in Glasgow, where access to supervised food remains limited, thereby supporting Jewish communal life and observance in Scotland.
History
Orchard Advert Ltd was incorporated on 6 April 1994 shortly after Lubavitch of Scotland expanded its outreach under Rabbi Chaim Yehuda Jacobs.[1] The entity was created to separate trading operations from the main charitable work, allowing revenue from kosher retail and catering to subsidise educational and religious programmes.[2] It has filed consistent accounts, with the most recent micro-entity accounts made up to 31 March 2025 filed on 21 May 2025.[2]
